Krimml Waterfalls
Spectacular views towards the Krimml waterfalls - the highest cascades in Europe - are to be explored on the 4km long easy hiking path. The proximity to the waterfalls contributes to your health and your overall well-being. Just next to the cascades you find the WaterWonderWorld Krimml where you can learn a lot about the element water on numerous stations.
Großglockner high alpine road
The well-known alpine street leads you up Austria's highest mountain - the Großglockner (3,798 m) and its glacier, the Pasterze. 48 kilometres and 36 sweeps - an awesome driving experience midst pure nature! Several tourist information points and hiking paths are to be found directly next to the street. The wildlife park Ferleiten is situated prior to the toll station of the Großglockner high alpine road in Fusch. Easy hiking paths lead your way past numerous enclosures, where animals such as wolves, bears and game can be watched.
Gerlos Alpenstraße
The well extended Gerlos alpine street cleaves its way through nature with a maximum incline of nine per cent in eight sweeps. The maximum height of 1,630 metres above sealevel and the length of 12 kilometres make the alpine street a panoramic road which allows awesome views: Once the Salzburg Saalachtal is in frame and from another spot you can catch wonderful glances of the Zillertal Alps.
The glacier ski area Kitzsteinhorn
The glacier on top of the Kitzsteinhorn in Kaprun is not only worth visiting during winter. Up the mountain the snow stays throughout the whole year despite the hot temperatures during summer. Massive rock formations and blooming hilly landscapes alternate while crystal clear mountain streams allow cool refreshments.
Caves and ravines
In the surroundings of Viehhofen you find several caves and ravines such as the Sigmund-Thun-Klamm in Kaprun, the Kitzlochklamm in Taxenbach, Vorderkaserklamm, Seisenbergklamm and Lamprechtshöhle in Weißbach, Liechtensteinklamm in St. Johann im Pongau and the adventure cave "Entrische Kirche" in Dorfgastein.
High alpine reservoirs in Kaprun
The Kaprun storage lakes are situated midst the fascinating mountain world of the national park Hohe Tauern. The ascent up the mountain is already a unique experience itself. Modern busses take you to Europe's largest incline elevator and from there on you continue your way to the "Moserboden" reservoir. The adventure world "electricity and ice" gives you an insight into the power and importance of water.
Salt Mine Hallein
The oldest mine site in the entire world tells you an interesting story about the history of salt - the so-called "white gold" of former times. Special guided tours for children are available. During your day-trip to Hallein you should also visit the celts museum and the longest summer toboggan run of Salzburg!
Adventure fortress Hohenwerfen
At the imposing fortified castle in Hohenwerfen you profit from daily guided tours through the fortess, bird of prey shows, stylish presents and an original knights shop. The panorama elevator brings you up the hill comfortably where you find the castle with the first austrian falcon museum and bird of prey educational path.
Giant ice world
The largest ice cave in the entire world can be visited in Werfen and requires an hour drive per car. During your visit in the ice cave, several steps and a path of approximately 1 km are the main challenges. The shapes of the ice figures are open for your own interpretation - no boundaries for your fantasy! Warm clothing and sturdy footware is obligatory.
Weißsee glacier world
In the center of the national park "Hohe Tauern" the toll free panoramic route leads you towards the Stubachtal valley and the Weißsee Gletscherwelt. Comfortable gondolas transport you up the mountain where you find a cosy hut and amazing views over the valley and 12 summits over 3,000 metres!
